Obituary

Rodney C. King, 87, of Dresden, died at 4:30PM Tuesday June 20, 2006 at the home of his son, Bill King, following a brief illness. Mr. King was born March 11, 1919 near Dresden, a son of the late Glenn C. and Myra Ethel (Ridgeway) King. He was a life long farmer and had worked as a machinist at Armco Steel and in prior years at the Bush Woolen Mill and General Electric. A 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School, he had served on the Jefferson School District Board of Education for eight years and was an avid Tri-Valley sports fan and booster. He was a member of the Prospect U. Methodist Church. Surviving are his children, Rodney W. (Bill) (Rosemary Stayner) King of Frazeysburg, Mary Jane (Carl Houston) Nelson of Dresden, T. Alyn King of Palm Springs, CA, grandchildren, Lori (Chuck) Ferrell of Canal Fulton, Kevin (Tami) King of AZ, Greg (Tammy) King of GA, Kelly (Charlie) Mallett of Byesville, Kyle (Jennifer) King of Dresden, Tyler King of Columbus, 10 great grandchildren, a very special friend, Mabel Wolford of Dresden, brother, Glenn W. (June) King of Conesville, sister, Glenna Pearl Cullins of Westerville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a sister Wanda Biehl, a grandson, Trent King and his former wife, Betty J. King. Friends may call 4-9PM Friday June 23, 2006 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home where services will be held at 10AM Saturday with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect U. Methodist Church, the Dresden Fire Department or Genesis Hospice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
