A funeral service for Robert F. Whyde, 80 of Newark will be held Monday November 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Robert L. Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Military services will be held at graveside.Mr. Whyde died Thursday November 3, 2005 at his residence. He was born December 18, 1924 in Newark to the late James and Rose (Hoffer) Whyde.He retired in 1990 from Jutlew Company. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army He was a charter and lifetime member and Past Commander of Hanover American Legion Post # 764, a lifetime member of Utica V.F.W. Post # 9062 and a member of the Newark Chapter of the Forty & Eight. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Kathern M (Pendleton) Whyde, whom he married September 21, 1948; three daughters, Sherry Staggers of Hanover, Kathy (Michael) Scott of Toboso, Vicki (Craig) Moore of Newark; three sisters, Rose Harris, Clara North and Nellie (Bob) Bailey all of Newark; grandchildren, Richard (Misti) Staggers of Hanover, Amanda Scott (Jacob Glover) of Columbus, Angelia Scott & Fianc?e Daniel West of Toboso, Linzie (Adam) Conn of Newark, Heath Moore of Newark; great grandson, Colby Conn of Newark, several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, three brothers, John Whyde, Earl Whyde, Clarence Whyde; sister, Lucy Bennett and son-in-law, Richard Staggers preceded him in death.Calling hours will be observed Sunday, November 6, 20005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street, Newark.The family request contributions to the Hanover American Legion Post # 764, 1989 West High Street Newark, Ohio 43055-8127.
