Robert E. Tippie, 88, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Thursday evening, November 24, 2016 at Zanesville Health & Rehabilitation Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born February 20, 1928 in Athens County, Ohio he was a son of the late Charles W. and Lena (Miller) Tippie and was a 1945 graduate of Jacksonville-Tremble High School. Mr. Tippie proudly served our country for two years with the United State Army during the Korean Conflict was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Clint Kramer Chapter #12 of Zanesville. He worked in the coal mines of Athens County and was a retired electrician working 31 years for Cyclops Corporation/AK Steel of Coshocton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns and all Ohio sports.
Surviving are three sons, Robert A. (Kimberly) Tippie of Zanesville, Charles W. (Mary Beth) Tippie of Nashport and Jerald L. Tippie of Dresden; one daughter, Beth Tippie of Dresden; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers in-law, Arthur (Patty) Reeves of Florida and David Reeves of Tennessee; two sisters in-law, Virginia (Buford) Brown of Athens, Ohio and Kay Ice of New Marshfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Winona C. (Reeves) Tippie whom he married July 3, 1954 and who died October 30, 2003; one infant son; three brothers, Cecil H. Tippie, Charles J. Tippie and Alfred J. Tippie and two sisters, Agnes M. Marsh and Lavina Schackert.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the funeral home with Minister Buford Brown officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
