Obituary

Robert E. Strahm, 92, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Perryton, Ohio died Friday morning, December 28, 2012 at Arlington Nursing Home in Newark.
Born January 15, 1920 in Carey, Ohio he was a son of the late Elmer L. and Jessie Mae (Clinger) Strahm and he was an Army veteran. Mr. Strahm was a school administrator and was retired from Licking Valley Schools. He received his BS Degree from Findlay College and his Masters Degree and Specialist in Education Degree from Bowling Green University. Mr. Strahm was a member of the Perryton United Methodist Church and was communion steward. He was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the National Association of Secondary School Principals and was a former member of Frazeysburg Lions Club and had been active in Scouting. He loved the outdoors, the sea, bird watching and was an amateur astrologist.
Surviving is a daughter Roberta (Elmer) Halker of Pandora, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kirsten (Girard) Halker-Kratz and Robert E. (Chrissy) Halker; four great grandchildren, Caroline and Charlotte Kratz, Isaac and Brian Halker; two sisters, Arline Bevington and Norma Jean Smith and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ethel (Barth) Strahm whom he married November 6, 1946 and who died July 19, 1996, a son Shaun R. Strahm who died March 16, 2007; four brothers, Clarence, Harold, Laurence and Leland Strahm and three sisters, Gertrude Powers, Helen Breitigam and Dorothy Hickle.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Perryton United Methodist Church, care of Ruth Osborn, 12355 Scout Road, Frazeysburg, Ohio 43822 or to the Licking County Animal Shelter, 544 Dog Leg Road, Heath, Ohio 43056.
