FRAZEYSBURG ? Rev. Robert T. Reiss, 74, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, died Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2003 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. Rev. Reiss was born September 24, 1928 in New Philadelphia, Ohio and was a graduate of North Canton High School and Capital University. In 1954 he graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbus, Ohio and was ordained as a Lutheran minister. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as a chaplain with the Navy and Navy Reserves for 22 years. Rev. Reiss also served the Ohio Lutheran Parishes of Good Shepherd of Bexley; Faith of Mt. Vernon; and Zion and Rockway of Springfield. He also served as interim pastor at Brookville, Indiana and Casstown, Ohio. Rev. Reiss was a member of the Rockway Lutheran Church, Springfield Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW Post 1031 and the Reserves Officers Association of the U. S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (High) Reiss, whom he married August 15, 1953; three sons, Robert F. (Ginger) Reiss and Stephen (Mary) Reiss both of Frazeysburg, and Daniel Reiss of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Allison (John) French of Hendersonville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren; one brother, Alan Reiss of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Patricia (James) Park of North Canton, Ohio; three sisters in-law, Betty Reiss of Norwalk, Ohio, Lyn Reiss of Winter Haven, Florida and Kay Reiss of Norton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur A. and Eva (Brown) Reiss; his twin brother, Rev. Richard Reiss and brothers, Rev. Rollin Reiss and Arthur E. Reiss; and a niece Karan Reiss. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadway, Springfield, Ohio 45504.
