Robert J. "Bob" Hindel, 85, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Monday evening January 16, 2023 at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room in Zanesville.
Born May 27, 1937 in Fresno, Ohio he was a son of the late William "Bus" and Leona (Camp) Hindel and was a graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Bob proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Rockwell International after 30 years of service. Bob dedicated his life to serving his community, spending over 15 years as treasure for the Ohio State School for the Blind; 35 years as a crossing guard for Frazeysburg Elementary students; a long-time member Wakatomika Post 6193, VFW; a life-time member of the Gold Wing Association and a trustee at Community Bible Church. Bob was also a life member of Frazeysburg Lions Club. He had over 50 years of service with the Lions, holding multiple top positions and winning numerous top awards. His unselfish service to our community will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his loving wife, Patti (Moran) Hindel whom he married October 20, 1961; two daughters, Shelbi Hindel of Columbus and Traci (Darren) Hanby of Frazeysburg; a son, Brent (Tammy) Hindel of Adams Mills; five brothers, Jerry (Cheryl) Hindel, John (Dorothy) Hindel, David (Marge) Hindel, Gene (Barb) Hindel and Paul (Karen) Hindel; two sisters, Loretta Boals and Linda (Larry) Swingle; nine grandchildren, Erica (Jon) Lipaj, Skyler (Brooke) Hanby, Riley Hanby, Sawyer Hanby, Derek Hindel, Nick Hindel, Carleigh Hindel, Ethan Johnson and Aliyah Johnson; five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexise Johnson who died March 22, 1995 and two brothers, William "Bill" Hindel and Jim Hindel.
Friends and family may call 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Frazeysburg Lions Club will conduct Lions services at 8:00pm Thursday, January 19, 2023 following calling hours.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, January 20, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Cooper officiating.
Burial will follow in the Frazeysburg Cemetery. Wakatomika Post 6193, VFW will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frazeysburg Lions Club.
