NEWARK: A funeral service for Robert E. Farmer, 74 of Newark, formerly of Buckeye Lake and Glenford will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Father Jonathan Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville. Bob passed away Monday evening, August 24, 2009 at his home. He was born February 10, 1935 in Columbus to the late Howard and Virginia (Frazier) Farmer. Bob had worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 44 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of VFW # 1388 at Buckeye Lake and a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Newark. He loved life. He loved fishing, watching NASCAR, visiting the beach and was a Cleveland Browns fan. Most of all; he loved to watch his grandsons play football on Friday nights for Licking Valley. Survivors include the greatest love of his life, his loving wife of 52 years, Frances (Spaulding) Farmer whom he married February 9, 1957; sons, Robert Farmer of Toboso, Thomas (Virginia) Farmer of Rockledge, Fla., David (Kris) Farmer of Hanover, James (Paula) Farmer of Hanover, Michael Farmer of Thornville, and Christopher Farmer of Hanover; a daughter, Rebecca West of Marne; sisters Rosemary (Gordon) Clippinger of Brownsville, Shirley (David) Cooperrider of Thornville; a brother in-law, Lester Hamm of South Vienna; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Farmer; and two sisters, Carol Kennedy and JoAnn Hamm. Friends and family may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday at Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
