A memorial service for Robert L. Elliott, 64 of Newark will be held on Friday July 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Baxter, Pastor Charlene Baxter and Evangelist Marie Shackleford officiating. Mr. Elliott died Friday July 13, 2007 at the Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born September 19, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Fred D. and Vera L. (Milner) Elliott, Sr. Mr. Elliott retired in 2004 from Denison University with 20 years service. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed watching sports on TV especially wrestling. Survivors include his daughter, Evette M. (Clayton) Johnson of Columbus; brothers, Edward Elliott of Columbus, Fred (Josephine) Elliott of Fitchburg, MA., John R. Elliott of Newark; sisters, Mamie Ellis of Columbus, Betty Thompson of Newark, Gloria Elliott of Philadelphia, PA., Gladys Elliott of Smyrna, GA., Erma Jean Elliott of Smyrna, GA., Shirley Allen of Columbus, Edwina (Paul) Flemister of Columbus, Pastor Charlene (Rev. Kenneth) Baxter of Abington, PA., Evangelist Marie (Daniel) Shackleford, Sr. of Newark; special friend Helen Craft of Newark; grandchildren, Robert L. Elliott, Jr., Dominique Johnson, Diamond Johnson, Storm Johnson, Stacy Johnson, Capone Johnson; great granddaughter, McKenzie Elliott and many nieces and nephews. A brother Donald Elliott preceded him in death in addition to his parents. Calling hours will be observed Friday July 20, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street, Newark, Ohio.
