A funeral service for Robert C. Shrivers, 85 of Nashport will be held Wednesday July 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Shrivers died Saturday July 7, 2007 at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio. He was born May 24, 1922 in McConnelsville, Ohio to the late Errvelle and Velma (Allen) Shrivers.Mr. Shrivers retired after 20 years in 1966 as a Master Sergeant with the Ohio National Guard 737th Battalion. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a former member of American Legion Post # 85, VFW # 1060, Druids Grove 48, Buckeye Lake Eagles and attended Neal Avenue United Methodist Church. Mr. Shrivers is survived by sons, Robert W. (Atha ?Sis?) Shrivers of Nashport, where he had made his home for the past 11 years, Jeffery Diller of Frazeysburg; daughters, Terry (Cecil) Downs of Newark, Becky Powell of Heath; brother, Richard Shrivers of McConnelsville; sisters, Carolyn Guffey of McConnelsville, Marilyn Roth and Pam Alderman both of Columbus; grandchildren, Joe & Lesa Durbin, Allan & Bobbi Jaklitsch, Chad & Courtney Downs, Shane Downs; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Blake, Christian, Celeste, Kody, Trittnee, Skylar, McKenzie, Brayden; Mr. Shrivers? special friend and first wife and her husband, Bonnie and Dan Roike of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Murriel ?Pete? (Moss) Shrivers in 1977 and his fourth wife, Janet Powell-Shrivers in 1990. One sister and seven brothers are also deceased. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
