Robert L. "Bob" Lones, 76, of Zanesville, Ohio died Sunday morning January 5, 2014 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born April 13, 1937 in Perry County, Ohio he was a son of the late Robert R. and Zola Ruth (Klingler) Lones and was a 1956 graduate of Junction City High School. Bob retired in 2000 from United Parcel Service after 41 years of service where he was a semi driver and he received a safety award for 35 years of accident-free driving. He was a member of Teamsters Local 637; VFW Post 1058 and Moose Lodge 867 all of Zanesville. He was well known in the area for the Miniature Donkeys that he raised and sold as well as the Purple Martins that he raised. He also enjoyed and owned antique automobiles. Bob was always a joy to be around and he loved his family immensely.
Surviving is his loving wife of over 54 years, June M. (Heimberger) Lones whom he married May 10, 1959; three sons, Steve Lones of Zanesville, Mike Lones and his wife, Lori of Zanesville and Matt Lones and his wife, Beth of Worthington, Ohio; one daughter, Jennifer Agin and her husband, Jon of Zanesville; seven grandchildren, Bailey, Kyle, Ben, Dominic and Grace Lones and Jacob and Jase Agin; three brothers, David (Sharon) Lones of Lancaster, Ohio, Jerry (Linda) Lones of Heath, Ohio and Dan Lones of Lancaster. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Alan Lones who died September 20, 1969; a granddaughter, Faith Lones and a daughter in-law, Tammy Lones.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at the funeral home with Dr. William L. Snider officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
