Robert M. "Bob" Fulks, 83, of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday morning, December 11, 2011 in the emergency room of Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.
Born May 13, 1928 in Trinway, Ohio he was the son of the late Malcolm and Irene (Moore) Fulks Chaney and was a 1946 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. He was a Navy veteran serving during the final months of World War II and he retired in 1990 from Armco/AK Steel of Coshocton where he had been a roll grinder. Mr. Fulks was a life member of American Legion Post #399 of Dresden; a life member of VFW Post 1330 of Coshocton; the fraternal order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge, of Coshocton and he was a well-known and avid golfer in the area. He was also an avid Tri-Valley Sports fan and a John Glenn girls basketball fan where his grandson is head coach.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law, Robert Douglas and Kathi Anne Fulks of Zanesville and Danny and Alice Fulks of Dresden; three grandchildren, Amanda (Adam) Wilson; Brian Fulks and his fiancée Jennifer Medley and Cody Fulks; three great grandsons, Jackson, Landon and Ian Wilson; two sisters, Roma (Tim) Vance and Mary Hughes, both of Coshocton; a brother, Donald Chaney of Coshocton; an aunt, Kay Rettos of Coshocton; an uncle, Gene Fulks of Sun City, Arizona; a very special friend, Yvonne Kishler of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene G. (Smedley) Fulks whom he married December 31, 1950 and who died November 2, 1995; a sister Donna Chaney; three brothers Ed Fulks, Ronald and Russell Chaney and his mother in-law, Mary Alice Mars.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery with American Legion Post 399 conducting full military honors.
