Obituary

Robert L. Apple, 77, of Dresden, died Wednesday afternoon November 23, 2005 at his home. Mr. Apple was born March 7, 1928 in Coshocton County, a son of the late Harold Welch and Clara Geneva Apple and was raised by the late Russell and Helen Stairhein. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army, from May 6, 1946 thru October 31, 1947 and from August 1, 1950 thru July 31, 1953. While in the Army he served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne, stationed at Ft. Campbell and was a master parachutist. Mr. Apple had worked at the Coshocton Post Office as a mail carrier and had been a milk truck driver in the Coshocton and Warsaw areas. A member of the Teamsters, he was a truck driver for Fairmont Foods and Stone Container Co. Following his retirement, he worked as a driver for the Bonnie Longaberger Senior Center in Dresden and was a member of the Central Christian Church in Coshocton. Surviving is his son, Robert A. (Christina) Apple of Johnstown, daughter, Cindy (Ron) Bradford of Dresden; grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Eldridge, Jr., Lucas Apple, Robert Ryan Bradford, Benjamin Apple; great grandchildren, Geneva Eldridge, Sydney Eldridge; also Michelle Goodrich and her daughter Hope, who resided at the home; half brothers, Williams Adams of Newcomerstown, Vincent Welch Pittsburgh, half sister, Mary Alice Dilts of Middleville, Michigan; a sister in law, Edna McGrady of Coshocton; an aunt, cousins and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth G. Apple, who died May 27, 2003, two infant sons and an infant half sister. Friends may call 7-9PM Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Monday at 1PM with Pastor Phillip Hunt officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to, Genesis Hospice, Central Christian Church or The James Cancer Hospital; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
