Rita Jane Sarbaugh, 72, of Adamsville, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, July 15, 2012 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born March 1, 1940 in Otsego, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Walter K. and Grace Naomi (Swingle) Sherrick and was a 1958 graduate of Adamsville High School. She was employed at the Adamsville School for thirty years working in the office, the cafeteria and as librarian. Mrs. Sarbaugh enjoyed going to church and has attended many of the area churches including New Hope Lutheran, Adamsville United Methodist, Otsego Full Gospel, Fairview Community Church and most recently Prospect United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Adamsville Girls Card Club and the Eastern Star. She love to pitch horseshoes and along with her husband founded Try-County Horseshoe Pitchers Association in 1989. She was also a member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association.
Surviving is her husband, Elden K. Sarbaugh whom she married November 11, 1961; two sons, Keith (Stacie Noel) Sarbaugh of Powell, Ohio and Kelly (Sarah Bertke) Sarbaugh of Adamsville; two daughters, Lisa Sarbaugh Bryan of Nashport, Ohio and Gigi (Clay) Hartman of Adamsville; eight grandchildren, Justin and Jerrod Bryan, Jade and Wyatt Schultheis, Amber and Austin Sarbaugh, Marie and Clair Hartman; two great grandchildren, Julia and Jocylen Rayner; one brother, Jerry Sherrick of New Concord, Ohio; one sister, Elaine (Bernard) Bissett of Adamsville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Walter K. Sherrick and a sister Ellen Bowden.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8pm Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Adamsville Community Center in Adamsville.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday at the Adamsville Community Center with the Rev. Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Adamsville.
