A funeral service for Rickie E. Nelson, 59 of Newark will be held Friday June 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.Mr. Nelson died Sunday June 18, 2006 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born September 15, 1946 in Marlinton, West Virginia to Freda (Tallman) Nelson of Marlinton, West Virginia and the late Donald E. Nelson.Mr. Nelson retired as a shift supervisor in 2002 with 32 years service from Owens-Corning Fiberglas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a car enthusiast. His greatest joy was his family and watching his boys participate in sports.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Judy (Shonebarger) Nelson, whom he married April 30, 1983; sons, Shawn E. Nelson and Jeremy D. Nelson both of the home; brother & sister in law, Mike & Rita Shonebarger of Columbus, niece, Carrie Shonebarger of Pataskala; nephew, Mickey (Stephanie) Shonebarger of Virginia Beach, VA.; great nephews, Michael and Hunter Shonebarger, aunts, uncles, cousins and Bear.Calling hours will be observed Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.Memorial contributions may be made to the Nelson Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
