A funeral service for Richard A. Miller, 71 of Heath will be held Thursday July 29, 2021 at 6 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with David Linn officiating. Calling hours will be observed from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Rick passed away at home on Thursday July 22, 2021. He was born March 28, 1950 in Newark to Donald N. and Patricia J. (Reed) Miller.

He retired January 2016 as a contract specialist from DSCC with 34 years of service. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of VFW # 1060, American Legion # 85, Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #55 and the Newark Eagles # 387. Rick had traveled extensively having visited all except three of the fifty states.  One of his favorite trips was to "The Field of Dreams." Rick had a lifelong love of baseball. He played ball during his time in the Navy. He was a softball coach for many years including 17 years at Hoback Park. He coached his children and was also the coach of the Men's Slow Pitch 1991 National Championship team. In later years he was also at the ballpark cheering his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marsha L. (Price) Miller; daughters, Nicole Miller of Heath, Amber Miller & Garrett Warren of Delaware, OH; grandchildren, Kamdyn, Kiersten, Cadence; brother, Gerald (Diana) Miller of Heath and an extended family.
