A funeral service for Richard J. Read, 63 of Nashport will be held Sunday October 16, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. Mr. Read died Tuesday October 11, 2005. He was born November 12, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to the late Osborne J. Read and Dorothy E. (VonMoos) Read of Akron.In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 44 years Carol R. (Frost) Read, whom he married December 24, 1960; two sons, Richard J. (Christine) Read, Jr. of Newark, Robert J. (Shirley) Read of Zanesville; daughter, Shelly J. (Scott) Fisher of Newark; sister, Vicky (Ron) of Akron; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, Lisa and Brandy.Mr. Read retired in February of 2004 from Terex Corporation with 35 years of service as an engineer. He was also a member of the Willow Run Golf Course, Newark Moose Lodge and Newark Druids.He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army. Calling hours will be observed Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street, Newark, Ohio.
