A funeral service for Richard E. ?Dick? Provance, 86 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. Provance died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Autumn Healthcare in Somerset. He was born December 14, 1921 in Parkersburg, W.Va. to the late Ernest and Maude (Boice) Provance. Mr. Provance served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the Church of God, and truly loved the Lord. Survivors include his wife Edith Provance, whom he married in 2003; daughters, Shelia (Chuck) Sheppard of Heath, Nancy (John) Mitton of Newark; sons, Clint (Sandy) Provance of Newark, Fred Provance of Newark; a sister Clela (Bob) Michaels of Arizona; a brother Clyde (Esteline) Provance of Mogodore, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Scott Provance, Rick Arnett, Fred Provance Jr., Lisa Dick, Jennifer Richards and Amy Halblaub ; and 4 great-grandchildren, Allison Halblaub, Logan Dick, AJ Murphy and Remington Richards. In addition to his parents, Mr. Provance was preceded in death his first wife, Helen (Lucas) Provance, whom he married Oct. 6, 1945; and a sister, Freda. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
