Richard E. McClain, Sr., 77 of Newark died Sunday morning at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville.

Born June 18, 1936 in Newark to the late Robert and Lillian (Sensabaugh) McClain. Mr. McClain enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. He golfed in several leagues both locally and in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma (Gault) McClain; children, Richard E. (Kim) McClain, Jr of Conway, AR, Sherri (Rick) Charles of Dardanelle, AR; step-children, Anne (Jeff) Crawmer, Doug Markert, Cindy (Kevin) Welsh, all of Toboso; a sister, Margaret Gray of Newark; a brother, Ronald McClain of St. Louisville; 6 grandchldren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Robert McClain.

Calling hours will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery
