NEWARK - A funeral service for Richard Sheldon McCoy, 86, of Newark, will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Young and Pastor Cory Campbell, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. McCoy died Saturday morning at his home. He was born January 23, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Earl and Florence (Wallace) McCoy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked as a welder at Owens Corning and was a member of Central Christian Church. Mr. McCoy was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and skeet shooting. He had been a member of the Granville Gun Club, and enjoyed spending time at the New Albany Gun Club. Survivors include his wife, Helen (Roth) McCoy; a son Richard E. (Darlene) McCoy of Leonardtown, Maryland; a daughter Beth (Tom) Bodle of Newark; grandchildren, Jason McCoy of Leonardtown, Lisa Dupler of Columbus, and Jill (Mark) Selina of Newark.
