Obituary

FRAZEYSBURG ? Richard R. Delancey, 76, of 174 South Street, Frazeysburg, Ohio, died at 5:45am Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born June 15, 1926 in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of the late Russell and Margaret (Thompson) Delancey and he was raised by his late grandmother, Elizabeth Delancey. Mr. Delancey was an Army veteran of World War II, and he retired in 1987 after 39 years of service as a brakeman with the B. & O. Railroad and the Chessie System Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion Post #85, the Eagles #387, and the UTU Railroaders Union #0404, all of Newark. Surviving is his wife of nearly 54 years, Mary A. (Simpson) Delancey, whom he married October 23, 1948; five daughters, Judy Romine and her fianc?, Mike Sellers of Brownsville, Ohio, Cindy Gill of Frazeysburg, Theresa (Dan) Mell of Zanesville, Ohio, Shirley Delancey of Marne, Ohio, and Diane (Casey) Baker of Duncan Falls, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Delancey of Orgonia, Ohio, and Millie (Carl) DiBlasio of Newark; two brothers, Howard (Jean) Delancey of Heath, Ohio, and Jerry (Janice) Delancey of Alabama; one step-sister, Irene (James) McGee of Pataskala, Ohio; one step-brother, Horace Campbell of Newark; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; his special cousins, Ann and Bob Sears of Newark; several nieces and nephews; and his ?best friend?, his dog, Molly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant daughter and a brother, Robert Delancey. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Vensil-Orr Funeral Home, Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, October 4, 2002 at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio.
