Funeral services for Raymond A. Murray, 89 of Millersport will be held Thursday May 4, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Meadow View Church of Christ, 6750 Raiders Road, Frazeysburg, OH with Minister Sam Dunn and Pastor Mark Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery.

Mr. Murray passed away Sunday morning April 30, 2023 at the Altercare of Newark-South. He was born August 15, 1933 in Columbus, OH.

Ray retired in 1993 as the Building and Grounds Superintendent at District # 5 ODOT. He had previously served Tri Valley Schools in a similar position. He owned and operated the Artistic Linoleum and Tile Company. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict.

He attended the Newark Baptist Temple. He was a former member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club and Newark Ski Club. He liked golfing, snow skiing and had been on several cruises. He especially enjoyed boating.

He is survived by his wife, of thirty years, Gloria "Jeanne" (Hormann) Murray; children, Patricia (James) Carlson of Pataskala, Steve (Lisa) Murray, Rick (Mary Kay) Murray all of Frazeysburg; step-sons, Michael (Debbie) Showalter of Centerburg, Mark Showalter of Johnstown; five grandchildren, Brian (Deanna) Murray, Nicole Scuerman, Joylynn (Thomas) Yocum, Adam Murray, Casey Murray; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two step-grandchildren, Austin Showalter, Andrea Baker; four step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Armentrout of Pataskala; nieces, Chris Muth, Karen Armentrout; nephew, Todd Armentrout.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert R. Murray; step-father and mother, Sheldon and Hazel M. (Gray) Armentrout; brother, Kenneth Armentrout.

A visitation will be observed Wednesday May 3, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.

The family requests memorial contributions to the James Cancer Clinic of Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
