A graveside service for Ray E. Cooley, 78 of Gambier will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday October 22, 2004 at Wilson Cemetery, 4254 Marion Road NE Newark, Ohio with Rev. James Dennis officiating.Mr.Cooley died Sunday October 17, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born March 10, 1926 in Morgan County to the late Eber C. and Goldie May (VanHorn) Cooley.Mr. Cooley retired after 40 years in 1988 as an overhead crane operator at Cooper-Bessemer. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers.He is survived by his brother, Roy A. Cooley of Walhonding; sister, Mabel Mercer of Marne and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lina (Hollar) Cooley and a brother Malcom Cooley.No calling hours will be observed.Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
