A memorial service celebrating the life of Preston Scott, Jr., 61 of Newark will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Charles W. Noble, Sr. officiating. Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mr. Scott passed away Friday at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born October 15, 1947 in Euphala, Ala. to Preston and Catherine (Hunter) Scott. He was a 1967 graduate of Newark High School. Mr. Scott served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, Preston Scott, Sr. of Newark; his wife, Debbie Brown of Newark; sons, Preston Scott, III., Keith Scott, all of Newark; daughters, Amber (Cris Keaser) Scott, Latraile Barlow, Amer (Phillip) Walls, all of Newark, Nicole Scott of Columbus, and Stephanie Hazelwood of North Carolina; step sons, Roy Rogers of Coshocton, Shawn Rogers of Newark, and Jeff Rogers of Columbus; brothers, Larry C. Scott, Keith M. (Tina) Scott, John L. Scott, all of Newark; a sister, Louise L. (Richard) Countryman of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; and all his dominos and fishing buddies. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, a son, Terrance Scott; and two brothers, Andrew J. Scott and Melvin D. Jackson. The Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home has been entrusted with service arrangements.
