Obituary

Paul V. Swinehart., 87 of Columbus died Saturday May 8, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born October 12, 1922 in Brownsville, Ohio to the late Ross and Grace (Foutch) Swinehart.

Paul was a graduate of Glenford High School and attended Capital University. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands with the U.S. Army. He was a Real Estate Broker for Swinehart Realty. In addition he enjoyed a journalism career which included various editor positions at the Columbus Citizen, Columbus Citizen â??Journal and the Perry County Tribune. He was a 57 year member of the Linden Lutheran Church; currently serving as president of church council, member of the Menâ??s Club, and the guitar player in the church choir. During his retirement, he was deeply involved in the Via De Cristo Organization, serving on the board and as historian. He was a member of John Tague Post # 188 American Legion in New Lexington. He was actively involved in several prayer chains.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laberta M. (Williams) Swinehart, whom he married June 4, 1944; seven children, Marjorie Stone, Frank (Dorothy) Swinehart, Deborah (Jack) Manter, Ronald Swinehart, Paula (John) Gozs, Genevieve (Alan) Nusbaum, and Donald Swinehart; a very special nephew Phillip (Pat) Swinehart; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Chute and Darlene Bookman; a brother-in-law, Virgil Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Swinehart.

Calling hours will be observed from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Schoedinger-North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Linden Lutheran Church, 1230 Oakland Park Avenue, with Pastor G. Karl Gaston officiating. Burial will be in Blendon Central
Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Linden Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
