Paul J. Stevens, 75, of Dresden, Ohio passed away Thursday evening, December 19, 2019 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio following a four and a half year battle with cancer. His loving family was at his side.
Born April 3, 1944 in Coshocton County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harold and Edna (Smith) Stevens. Paul attended Three Rivers High School to the 11 th grade and then received his GED later. He was employed by Detroit Diesel of Cambridge and retired on February 29, 2016 with 18 years of services. Paul was a member of the North Tuscarawas Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 20 years, then he joined Coshocton County REACT Team in February of 1994 as RE-22 and has served for nearly 25 years. He was also a member of Chalfants Methodist Church and attended Dresden United Methodist Church. He was also member of the Coshocton County Sportsman Club. Paul loved hunting and fishing with his son, Don, and his four grandsons, Austin, Blake, Taylor and Ryan. He dearly loved his grandsons and they were the highlight of his life.
Surviving is his loving wife of 28 years, Judy (Hutchison) Stevens, whom he married April 27, 1991; a son, Don (Lori) Stevens of Newcomerstown, Ohio; a daughter, Michelle Stevens of West Lafayette, Ohio; a step-son, Kevin (Denise Reynolds) Hutchison of Zanesville; a step-daughter, Lisa (Heath Shroyer) Cunningham of New Philadelphia, Ohio; his grandsons, Austin Ogle, Blake and Taylor Cunningham of New Philadelphia, Ryan Stevens of Newcomerstown and Derek Reynolds of Zanesville. Also surviving are two brothers, Herbert (Bonnie) Stevens and Harold (Donna) Stevens, both of Conesville, Ohio; two sisters, Pauline (David) Mathews of Granville, Ohio and Sylvia (Richard) Wright of Conesville; several nieces and nephews and his little dog buddy, "Chippy".
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Stevens.
Calling hours will be from 10am to NOON on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be NOON Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the funeral home with his daughter in-law, Lori Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
