A funeral service for Paul A. Kerr, Sr., 73 of Newark will be held Monday December 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Kerr was born July 28, 1936 in Newark, Ohio to the late Paul Samuel and Helen L. (Neibarger) Kerr. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Linda J. (Swan) Kerr, whom he married August 4, 1957; his children, Cindy (Richard) Fawcett, Lisa Hamilton, Paul (Mary) Kerr, Jr. all of Newark; grandchildren, Rachel Fawcett, Jeremy Hamilton and fianc?e Lindsey Blausser, Alaina (Gary) Smith, Steven Kerr all of Newark and Paul Kerr, III of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Emma, Isis and Xander Hamilton, Sapphire and Caleb Smith and Joseph Kerr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack Hamilton, Jr. Mr. Kerr retired in September of 1998 with 43 years of service with Rockwell/Meritor as a tool and die maker. Mr. Kerr was a past Patron and 50 year member of Licking Chapter, #551, OES, 50 year member of Crusader Lodge # 720 F & AM, 50 year member of Chapter and Council of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a 1954 graduate of Newark High School. A member of UAW Local 1037. He was a life member of Deathwinds Muzzle Loader Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved traveling and had many special memories of his trip to Scotland. He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports including truck pulling. He looked forward to visits from his great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be observed Sunday December 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. Masonic services will be held at 5:30 p.m. and Eastern Star services at 5:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crusader Lodge # 720 F& AM or Licking Chapter# 551, OES, 875 Irving Wick Drive W., Heath, Ohio 43056. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
