Evans, 70, of 99 Maple Street, Frazeysburg, Ohio, died at 10:41pm Thursday, October 17, 2002 in the emergency room of Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio. Born March 22, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, he is the son of the late Harold Evans and Edith (Ryan) Evans of Florida. He was a graduate of Hilliard High School and is an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a former member of the Ohio National Guard. Mr. Evans retired in 1990 from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and in 1991 he opened Evans Family Restaurant in Frazeysburg, from which he is also retired. Also surviving is his wife, Marian (Craig) Evans, whom he married April 10, 1965; six sons, Robert Evans and Pall Evans, both of Columbus, Mark A. Evans of Las Vegas, Nevada, David Absten of Sacramento, California, Paul (Rosalyn) Absten, and Darrell (Misty) Mayer, both of Frazeysburg; three daughters, Brenda Reese of Las Vegas, Nevada, Patricia (Gene) Jaskiewicz of Lynchburg, Ohio, and Mary (Todd) Johnson of Coshocton, Ohio; four brothers, Harold (Patty) Evans and Jerry Evans of Columbus, Frank (Carol) Evans of Moundsville, West Virginia, and John Evans of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two sisters, Barbara Folston and Kay Evans, both of Florida; a sister in-law, Marie Evans of Columbus; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, a brother, David Evans, preceded him in death. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Sunday, October 20, 2002 at Vensil-Orr Funeral Home in Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, October 21, 2002 at the funeral home with Minister Lyle Lipps officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
