A funeral service for Paul R. ?Dick? McConnell, 69 of Newark will be held Wednesday May 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. McConnell died Sunday May 13, 2007 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born February 14, 1938 in Newark, Ohio to the late Paul and Lulu (Hite) McConnell. Mr. McConnell retired as a Calibration Technician from Newark Air force Base in 1993 with 25 years service. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a 1956 graduate of Newark High School. He loved golfing, he also enjoyed watching high school sports and the Cincinnati Reds. His most enjoyable time was spent with his grandchildren and playing euchre. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie (Hollingshead) McConnell whom he married July 31, 1967; his children, Tad (Andrea) McConnell of New Bern, N.C., Michelle (Butch) Deo of Vassar, Mich.; step-children, Larry (Brenda) Miller of Thornville, Jeff (Shari) Miller of Moncks Corner, S.C., Paula MacNealy of Newark, Julie (Tony) Warden of South Lake, Texas; brother, Ronald (Ruth) McConnell of Newark; grandchildren, April Miller, Jeramya Stephens, Cody Miller, Lyndsi Mercer, Danielle Pennell, Joey Miller, Jessica Balo, Tyler Warden; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday May 15, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
