A funeral service Pastor Wayne Hafley, 67 of Minerva will be held Tuesday December 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of God, God?s Acres 675 N. Cedar Street, with Pastor Roger L. Decker officiating.Pastor Hafley died Thursday December 16, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center, Canton, Ohio. He was born August 11, 1937 in Athens, Tenn. To the late Charles B. and Minnie Bell Millsap Hafley.Pastor Hafley has served as the pastor of the Mt. Zion Church of God in Minerva since 1991. He served 12 years as pastor at the Carrollton Church of God. He had been employed by Pioneer Furniture Mfg. as a furniture foreman and had operated the J & W. Mfg. Chair Factory in Athens, Tenn.Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Doris Jean McGahhey, whom he married April 15, 1956; daughter, Janice (Mike) Davis of Ringold, Ga.; sons, Daniel (Paula) Hafley of Bowerston, Ohio, Donald (Sharon) Hafley of Knoxville, Tenn., Richard Hafley of Rossville, Ga.; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Bradford of Athens, Tenn.; Charles Hafley of Cleveland, Tenn., and Olen Hafley of Sweetwater, Tenn.Three brothers Robert, Lester and Fred Hafley preceded him in death.Calling hours will be observed at the church Monday December 20, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. 675 N. Cedar Street, Newark. The family requests memorials in Wayne?s memory to the family to help defray medical expenses. Burial will follow in the McMinn Memorial Gardens.
