A funeral service for P. Yvonne (nee Swank) Griffith will be held Wednesday April 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday April 4, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street. Mrs. Griffith died April 2, 2006. She was born October 31, 1927 in Long Bottom, Meigs County, Oho to the late Mollie E. (nee Curtis) and William H. Swank. Mrs. Griffith was a child-care provider at Happy Hours for approximately ten years until her son was born. She then became a full time wife/mother. Later, Mrs. Griffith was a Crew Leader for the 1970 Census, and she worked sixteen years as a nutrition aid and 4-H Club leader for O.S.U. She assisted in establishing the Fallsburg Homemakers Club. Mrs. Griffith also taught Sunday school at Plymouth Congregational Church where she was a member for over sixty years. Mrs. Griffith is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald W. Griffith; her son, David Griffith; daughter-in-law, Sherry; grandchildren, Darin, Linda, Tyler; and sister, Dora Crispin. She was preceded in death by brothers, Glenn Swank (WWII), Roy Swank, Elmer Swank; sister, Ruby Sarbaugh.
