IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Orville "J.R."
Tackett
July 26, 1939 – April 21, 2023
Orville "J.R." Tackett Jr., 83, of Frazeysburg, passed away after an extended illness, Friday evening, April 21, 2023 at Genesis Hospice – Morrison House with his loving wife by his side.
Born July 26, 1939, in Greenup, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Orville and Goldie (Gillispie) Tackett and a United States Army Veteran. J.R. was a member of First Baptist Church-Dresden, retired from United McGill in Columbus as a welder, 18 year member of the American Legion, enjoyed old cars and singing in his band "J.R. Tackett and Great Country. It was through his music and performing that J.R. finally met the love of his life, Nancy. In the 11 years they shared together you rarely saw one without the other. A couple nights a week they would pack up the instruments and off they would go for J.R. to bring happiness to others through his music and songs, with Nancy there as his biggest fan and admirer. He was blessed to strum his guitar one last time a few weeks before his passing when his step son-in-law brought his guitar to him and encouraged him to play. J.R. will be deeply missed for the kindness and love he shared with those around him. He loved the Lord, and we take comfort in knowing J.R.'s voice is strong once again, praising our Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy (Shirbish) Tackett whom he married on January 10, 2018; five stepchildren, Lori Forbes, Rob Gulis, Jeff Gulis, Theresa (Eric) Krupa and Dave Coe; eleven step-grandchildren; eleven nieces and nephews, with special mentions of Joell (Dave) Dillow, Anthony (Cathy) Tackett, Connie (Tom) Ward and Denise Lynn (Mike) Hensley; and two sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
