FRAZEYSBURG ? Oren J. Steen, 82, of Newark, Ohio died Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2009 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, Newark, Ohio. Born September 24, 1926 in Toboso, Ohio, he was the son the late Cyrus G. and Ida E. (Keller) Steen and was a graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Mr. Steen was a Navy veteran of World War II and was Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Marne Activities Club and was an avid sportsman and fisherman and was a life-time member of the Johnstown Sportsman Club. Mr. Steen was self-employed in the oil business and he was retired from the highway department with the City of Newark. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leona M. (Wright) Steen; one daughter, Arletta Lee Holman of Jordan, New York; one grandson, David Garth (Stephanie) Holman of Kent, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Hanna, Zach and Cassidy Holman; a sister Gladys E. (Leon) Kemp of Auburndale, Florida; a sister in-law, Virginia Wright of Chatham, Ohio; a ?very special and loving? brother in-law, Clinton (Linda) Wright of Newark and several nieces and nephews, including a ?very special? niece, Susan O?Brien of Marne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Eric Holman; three brothers, Carl, Edward and Edgar Steen and two sisters, Helen Price and Mary Wood. Calling hours will be 2 to 5pm Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, March 30, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
