FRAZEYSBURG â?? Oliver Howell Crittenden, 74, of Palestine, Texas, died Friday morning, January 22, 2010 at the Inn at Summerville, Zanesville, Ohio.
Born August 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Otis Smith Crittenden, Sr. and Catherine A. Dicarlo Crittenden. He was a 1953 graduate of Palestine High School and a 1957 graduate of Texas A & M University. After 20 years of service, he retired in 1977 from the United States Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and a very distinguished record of service. After his retirement for the Army he became a Systems Safety Engineer with NASA, retiring in 2000. Mr. Crittenden was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church of Palestine.
Surviving are two daughters, Camela Ann Crittenden of Richmond, Virginia and Merrit Lee (Clint) Jackson of Midlothian, Virginia; a granddaughter, Haylee Jean Jackson; a brother, Otis (Susan) Crittenden of Nashport, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sharon Davis of Palestine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Travis Howell Crittenden and a sister, Catherine M. Blankenship.
There will be no calling hours and memorial services will be conducted in Palestine, Texas at a later date.
