Obituary

FRAZEYSBURG â?? Norman D. Martin, 73, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday evening, April 25, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born August 14, 1936 in Dresden, Ohio, he was the son of the late Samuel and Alice (Eppley) Martin and was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson High School. Mr. Martin was a lifelong farmer and was owner of NorMar Farms. He was retired from Martin Farms and was a former partner of Martinâ??s Dairy of Dresden. In 1969 he received the award of Ohioâ??s Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. Mr. Martin was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church. He served on the Muskingum County Fairboard for 25 years; was a member of ASCS and the Farm Bureau.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Marilyn J. (Phillips) Martin, whom he married September 22, 1957; three sons, Thomas D. (Roxanne) Martin of Gahanna, Ohio, Michael B. (Renee´) Martin of Frazeysburg and Gregory S. Martin of Nashport, Ohio and special friends Amy, Sarah and Steven; six grandchildren, Erin Martin, Kelly Martin, Jenna Martin, Krista Martin, Scott Martin and Katie Martin; two brothers, Kenneth W. Martin of Dresden and Forest L. Martin of Galena, Ohio; a sister, Martha F. Jones of San Francisco, California; his sister in-law, Mary Jo Martin of Marysville, Ohio; a special cousin, Mary Helen Williams of Zanesville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, Donald and Richard Martin; four sisters in-law, Clare Belle Martin and Virginia Martin, Molly Martin and Marnie Martin and a brother in-law, Proctor Jones.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Martinâ??s body was donated to The Ohio State University for the benefit of medical study and research.
Memorial services will be 1:00pm Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Belt and Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating. The family will be present from 12:00pm until service time.
