A private funeral service will be held for Norman P. Kutan, 73 of Newark. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Kutan died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Richard and Nellie (Nicola) Kutan.
Mr. Kutan, a supervisor with Tamarack Dairy retired in 1999. A graduate of Rayen High School in Youngstown; he served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USCGC Eastwind, an icebreaker vessel. Mr. Kutan enjoyed golfing. He had the distinction as the most senior member of The Links at Echo Springs. In addition he was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda L. (Strider) Kutan, whom he married May 2, 1990; children, Dawn (Dale) Blake of Indian Trail, NC, Deanna (John) Gaskill of Charlotte, NC, Ty (Kathryn) Kutan of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Samantha Blake, John Henry Gaskill, Jack Gaskill, Logan Gaskill, Ty Kutan, Meredith Kutan; brother, Richard (Shelley) Kutan of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Schenk.
