Obituary
A funeral service for Norma Jean Thompson, 81 of Newark will be held Wednesday March 31, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grable officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson died Saturday March 27, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born January 17, 1929 in Newark to the late Harold R. and Virginia Irene (Campbell) Hoy.
Mrs. Thompson was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Westside Chapel, TOPS and a former hospital volunteer in the IG Lab.
She is survived by her children Barbara J. â??Charlieâ? (Ernest L.) Castle of Newark, Michael L. (Sharon L.) Thompson of Newark; sister, Mary Louise North of Newark; four grandchildren, Joy A. Bressler of Westerville, Michael A. (Aneliya â??Annieâ? ) Thompson of Columbus, Mandy S. (Joel A.) Reynolds of Gahanna, Jennifer L. Castle and Samuel Baker of Newark; three great grandchildren, James E. Bressler, Caleb A. Reynolds, Payton M. Reynolds; several nieces, nephews; special friends Bud and Mary Wigal of Newark, Carol Gatton of Heath; canine friends Foster and Gabby Pickles.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Thompson, May 8, 1982.
Calling hours will be observed Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
