Obituary

Norma Lee Fleming, 87, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Friday morning, December 4, 2015 at The Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born September 26, 1928 in the family home on Highland near Frazeysburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas C. Fleming, Sr. and Rhoda M. (Lecky) Fleming. She was a 1953 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and was Christian by faith. Norma served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1958. During her tour of duty during the Korean War she flew with MTS (Military Air Transport) transporting food and supplies to the fighting soldiers and returning the wounded back to military hospitals. She also flew into such places as Alaska and Morocco. Following her discharge she worked in Civil Service for several years. After her retirement she became a manager at the Morgan Horse Farm in Newbary, Florida, working there for 30 years. As manager of the farm she helped with breeding, training and showing horses at all levels and won numerous ribbons for her efforts. She was in many wedding and parades with carriages pulled by the Morgan horses. Norma loved traveling and had traveled throughout Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, England, Ireland and all over the United States. In 2001 she returned home to Frazeysburg to be near her family. She enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Florida Gators.
Surviving are three brothers, Dwight (Betty) Fleming of Midland, Texas, Donald (Patt) Fleming of Zanesville and James (Beverly) Fleming of Marne, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews who will miss her and her many stories.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, William, Carl, Thomas, Jr., Asa and Walter Fleming and two sisters, Rhoda Reed and Clara Morin.
Calling hours will be from NOON to 2PM Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Offenberger officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
