Obituary

Nancy Jean Rogers, 84, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 23, 1937 in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Scott W. and Freda J. (Henderson) Vickers. Nancy was a Christian by faith and a member of many churches, and most recently attended The Tree of Life of Christian Fellowship in Zanesville. She was a former member and Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Nancy had many talents and was an entrepreneur. She was a floral designer, interior decorator, ceramic artist, and craft extraordinaire just to name a few. She owned and operated the Candle & Gift Barn in Nashport and The Corner Coffee Shop in Dresden.

Married to the love of her life, Samuel Rogers, Jr. (her Sammie) on July 26, 1977. For 45 years, they travelled the world. During that time, they lived in California, Oklahoma, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Japan. Her time spent with Sammie were the most fulfilling of her life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tanya (Donnie) Slaughter of Dresden and Lisa (Brent) Harper of Nashport, daughter-in-law Christy Clayton of Fultonham; several grandchildren, Gretchen (Nathan) Roahrig, Heather (Josh) Trussler, Travis (Erin) Slaughter, Briane (Josh) Eick, Adriane (Brad) Shindle, Danielle (Rusty) Hindel, Travis Harper, Ashley Cavender, Michael Besser, Sabrina Clayton, and Scott Clayton; several great grandchildren, Addison, Finley, Jordan, Javon, Jaelin, Steven, Nathan, Cambry, Grayson, Boston, Annalyn, Havana, and Maleia; and four great great grandchildren, Karli, Dalton, Charlotte and Myles. Also surviving is one brother, Scott Vickers, Jr. of Florida and a very special cousin, Kitty Marsh of Marion, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Clayton and grandson Cory Harper.

Memorial services for Nancy will be 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street, with Pastor Jim Gross officiating.
