A funeral service for Misty Dawn (Stradley) Giffen, 21 of Newark will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Steve Rich officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Fork Cemetery. Misty passed away Monday morning at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 8, 1984 in Newark to Scott Stradley and Lorna (Houston) Stradley. Misty graduated from Newark High School in 2003. She was involved with Relay for Life, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter Shelbi. Misty is survived by her husband, Jonathon Giffen, whom she married December 31, 2004; her father Scott (Melinda) Stradley of Fairborn; her mother Lorna Stradley, and her special friend Matt Stanley, both of Newark; a daughter, Shelbi Lynne Giffen; paternal grandparents Robert and Marilyn Stradley of Newark; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Ocean Houston of Newark; a brother, Cody Stradley of Newark; a step-brother, Thomas McCloud of Fairborn; a step-sister Robin (John) Sharp of Fairborn; two aunts, Karen (Bob) Pitcock of Roseville, Lori Stradley of Newark; an uncle, Gary (Karla) Houston of Grenada, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death was an aunt, Connie Parsons. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
