Mildred L. Howard, 96, formerly of Frazeysburg and Nashport, died Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2013 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.
Born August 22, 1917 in Spratt, Ohio she was the daughter of the late George R. and Ola May (Weber) Horrall. She was a retired cook having worked for many years at Nashport Elementary School. Mrs. Howard was a member of the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church; the United Methodist Women; the Faith Sunday School Class and a member of the church choir. She was also a member of Nashport/Richvale Grange for over 50 years and was a member of the Frazeysburg Monday Afternoon Card Club.
Surviving is two sons and daughters in-law, Gerald R. "Red" Howard and his wife, Marilyn of Frazeysburg and Harvey L. Howard and his wife, Janice of Troy, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tim (Lisa) Howard, Pam (Mike) Davis, Stephanie (Mark) Miller, Christopher (Tonya) Howard and Gregory (Carrie) Howard; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her "other family", the wonderful staff of Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Herman R. Howard whom she married August 30, 1933 and who died October 13, 2003; two infant sons, Ronald and Donald Howard; a half-sister, Marie Galloway and a half-brother, Calvin Gray.
Calling hours will be from 4pm to 8pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
