Mildred L. (Millie) Bice, 88, of Dresden, passed away Wednesday December 12, 2007 at her home. Mildred was born February 2, 1919 in Adams Mills, Ohio to J. Henry and Elizabeth Gill. She was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bice was a proud supporter of the Tri-Valley FFA and band programs and 4-H. She loved animals and nature. Surviving are her children, Janet Harris of Dresden, Major General David F. Bice, USMC (Ret) and his wife Charlene of Woodbridge, VA, Shirley (Francis) Steffee of Dresden, Donald and Pat Bice of Dresden, Sherri Zeller of Platte City, MO; her sisters, Alice Hall of Philo, Anna Vore of Zanesville, Betty Jean Mason of New Concord, Barbara Carpenter of Zanesville; grandchildren, Todd Steffee of Jacksonville, AR, Rhonda (Chris) Fluharty of Fairbanks, AK, Barbara (Mike) Ellemen of Hebron, KY, Kimberly (Denny) Phillips of Plain City, Kathy Thompson of Woodbridge, VA, Cari Bice of Louisville, KY, Stephanie (Jason) Jarrett of Newark, Stephen (Wendy) Bice of Zanesville, Stacy (Jon) Richardson of Frazeysburg, Wesley and Bailey Zeller of Cecil, OH; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters in law, Gyneth Bice of Dresden, Ester Bice of New Philadelphia, brother in law, Carlos D. Bice of Vancouver, WA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Floyd M. Bice who passed away July 2003; her brothers, Dalton, Howard, James and Richard Gill; and her sisters, Bernice Groves and Faye Porter. To love and be loved by our mother was the greatest joy on earth. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday December 14, 2007 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Dresden United Methodist Church with Pastor Ricci Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice or the 4-H Endowment Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
