A funeral service for Michael G. Norman â??Buckeye Drifterâ? 59 of Newark will be held on Saturday August 28, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Following the services, the family and friends will gather at The Café at The Place off the Square, 50 N. Second Street, Newark.
Mr. Norman died Wednesday August 25, 2010 at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born October 21, 1950 in Newark to the late Herb and Louise (Williamson) Norman.
Mr. Norman was a truck driver for over 30 years, most recently working for Riss International and Howell Transportation. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed playing pool and Texas Holdâ??em poker. He attended West Muskingum High School and liked watching college football.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Waddell of Marne, Robbie Waddell of Heath; sisters, Darlene Harris of Heath, Karen (George) Smith of Newark, Rose (Dan) Williams of Newark, Ginny Staats of Columbus, Trudy Goodman of Newark, Cindy Spain of Newark, Joye (Ralph) Morrison of Newark; brothers, Joe Norman of Newark, Chuck Norman of Newark, Dave (Mary Jane) Norman of Newark, Allen (friend Beth Tuder) Norman of Traverse City MI.; special friends, Bev Zartman, Sherry Hutchinson and Sue; special NASCAR buddy, Marty Norman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lori Lee Norman, brothers-in-law, James Harris, Bill McGruder, Bernie Crozier.
Calling hours will be observed Saturday 2 to 4 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
The family requests memorial contributions to the family in care of Karen Smith. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
