A funeral service for Michael L. Lanning, ?Concrete Cowboy,? 54 of Newark will be held Friday July 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Pound officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Mike a loving husband and devoted father died Sunday July 9, 2006 at his residence. He was born November 26, 1951 in Newark, Ohio to the late Bernard Lanning and Barbara (Althar) Lanning of Newark. He was a truck driver for 34 years. He was currently employed by Putnam Trucking. He formerly drove for Quickway Carriers and was a former Teamster. He was a member of Newark Eagles. He was a 1970 graduate of Newark High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and camping. He liked racing including dirt bikes, motorcycles and auto. Survivors in addition to his mother is his wife, Naomi (White) Lanning, whom he married October 12, 1986; children, Erica, Cierra, Nathen Lanning and grand daughter, Ryleigh Baker; other children include Scott Lanning and Heidi Lanning, Kim Price, Erica Price and 12 grandchildren; brothers, John (Pam) Lanning, Bobby (Mary) Lanning; sisters, Lonnie (Ray) Autherson, Linda E. ""Beth"" Johnson; mother-in-law, Elsie White; sister-in-law, Laura ?Cookie? Ellis; brother-in-law, Jimmy White; close friend, Randy; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
