Michael R. Ambrus, 79 of Newark passed away February 23, 2022 at Licking Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.  He was born August 8, 1942 in Newark to the late Michael Stephen and Ruth Eldeen (Dyer) Ambrus.

A graduate of Newark Catholic High School, Mike honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He was employed at Newark Air Force Base and later Boeing.  He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he served as both an Elder and Deacon.  Mike was an avid reader and lover of hot sauce.  He also enjoyed telling corny jokes.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marilyn (Williams) Ambrus, whom he married February 15, 1992; children, Cherelle "Dawn" (Michael) Ambrus-Cook Michael Gregg (Loni) Ambrus; step-children, Pamela (John) White, Katherine (Michael) Aillon; grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Emily, Nathan, Xavier (Micki), Dakota; step-grandchildren, Elena, Evan, Johnny and Jack; great-grandchildren, Camden and Theodore; a sister, Kathleen Spring; a brother, Daniel (Teresa) Ambrus; half-sister, Kathi (Michael) Cartee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Ambrus; and a brother in-law, Thomas Spring.

A celebration of Mike's life will be 11:00 am. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Second Presbyterian Church, 42 E. Church Street, Newark with Rev. Todd Tracy officiating.
