Funeral services for Melvin D. Harris, 61, of Heath, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 8, 2003 at the Community Wesleyan Church, 161 Myrtle Avenue, Newark with Pastor G. William Harding of the Mount Vernon Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, Ohio.Mr. Harris went home with the Lord on November 1, 2003, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus. He was born on March 23, 1942 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Anna Mae Pruitt. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Church of God and a 1960 graduate of East High School, Columbus.Mr. Harris leaves to cherish in memory his wife of 34 years, Sadie L. (Goins) Harris; two sons, Jeffrey A. (Heidi) Harris of Neewark, Jay E. (Rachelle) Harris of Grove City, daughter, J. Brooke Harris of Heath; one grandson, Ryan E. Palmer of Newark; two special cousins, Joyce (Oscar) Weathersby, Peter Pruitt of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae Pruitt.Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday November 7, 2003 at the Vensil - Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 W.
