FRAZEYSBURG ? Melvin I. Brewer, 79, of Nashport, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2009 at his home. Born December 2, 1929 in Blue Rock, Ohio, he was the son of the late Isiah and Naomi Jane (Clapper) Brewer. He retired in 1993 from Hoskinson Excavating where he was a heavy equipment mechanic and operator. Mr. Brewer was a member of the Licking Valley Coon Hunters Association for many years. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Janet J. (Rice) Brewer whom he married October 24, 1948; one son Tim (Debra) Brewer of Newark; three daughters, Karen (Jim) Butts of Newark, Malissa (David Minor) Brewer of Newark and Lori (Raymond) Binkley of Nashport; one brother, Gene Brewer of Hebron, Ohio; one sister, Mary Dowell of Nashport; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; one grandchild; two great grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Diebold. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery.
