Maxine L. (Darner) Smart, 96, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on Monday February 2, 2004 at the Cherrydale Health & Rehab. Center in Arlington, Virginia. Born in Newark on May 9, 1907, she graduated from Adams Mills School in 1924 and Newark Business College. She was a former resident of Adams Mills, Dresden, Trinway and Massillon and was employed at the Bush Woolen Mill, Clow Corp. and Gene Cox & Sons. A retired bookkeeper, she moved to Virginia in 1983 and had been a resident of Cherrydale in Arlington since July 2003. Surviving member?s of Maxine?s family include her daughter Mary (Bob) Little of Springfield, VA, her granddaughter, Kathy (Frank) Napoli and great grandson, Robby Napoli of Hyattsville, Maryland, her stepson, Guy A. Smart of Florida and many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her parents, Brent and Myrt (Vickers) Darner, two brothers, Bill and Charley Darner, three husbands, Russell A. Wright, Lawrence Mills, Guy A. Smart and a stepdaughter, Ruth Moore all preceded her in death. Maxine was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Springfield, VA, numerous fraternal organizations, O.E.S. in Ohio and VA, The White Shrine of Jerusalem in Ohio and VA, Daughters of the Nile in Ohio and VA, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, the Social Order of Beauceant in Ohio and the Massillion Women's Club. She held many offices in these organizations as late as the age of 90. Friends may call 6-8PM Wednesday February 11, 2004 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home and one hour prior to services which will be held Thursday February 12, at 11AM with Dr. John J.
