Mary Ellen of Mays Landing died on June 21, 2004. She was 80 years old. Mary was born and raised in Hanover, Ohio. Her mother was a teacher and her father was a farmer. She grew up on the farm milking cows and even plucking chickens. Mary went on to school to become a registered nurse and joined the army. Her late sisters, Dorothy Castallana and Virginia Arnold followed in the same career. Mary reached the rank of captain in the army where she met her late husband Anthony Suglia who was also a captain. Mary has traveled to 37 countries including the Phillipines and most of Europe. She was married in Germany, moving back White Sulpher Springs, WV. Mary and her husband attended many White House functions during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations. Mary also had the honor of being President Eisenhower?s personal nurse for the day. She personally knew the Eisenhower?s and Kennedy?s as well as their children and Anthony was with President Kennedy in Texas the day he was assassinated. The most important day in Mary?s life was when she asked the Lord to be her savior. This has meant more to her than all of her experiences and travel. She has helped many people find their way to Christianity. And the biggest joy in all of her life is knowing her children are saved, and will be with her in heaven. Mary is survived by her two children, Richard and his wife Cindi of South Carolina and Mary Jo Feldbauer of Egg Harbor Twp. She was the proud grandmother of Craig, Joshua and Randi and will be sadly missed by her sister Becky Smart. Relatives and friends are invited to her life celebration Friday, June 25, 2004, from 10 ? 11 AM at Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home, Tilton Rd. & Infield Ave., Northfield.
