Obituary

Mary Ellen Sproull, 96, of Dresden, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2018 at the Helen Purcell Home in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born May 13, 1922 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late Percy and Ida (Hains) Lacy and was a 1940 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School.  She attended Meredith Business College in Zanesville, graduating in 1941.  She worked for over ten years in the banking business in Zanesville and Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she and her husband lived for many years.  Mary Ellen was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed reading inspirational books, knitting and doing needlework and other crafts.

Surviving is her nephew, Ricky Lacy and his wife, Christy of Dresden and a niece, Debra.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sheldon Sproull whom she married May 11, 1946 and who died October 16, 1990; a sister Lucille Sproull; a brother and sister in-law, Richard H. and Martha Lacy and a nephew, Michael A. Sproull.

Calling hours will be 11am to 1pm Friday, September28, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday at the funeral home with Mrs. Sharon Vickers officiating.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Tunnel Hill in Coshocton County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
