Funeral services for Mary E. Turner, 97 of Newark will be held Thursday May 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God, God?s Acres 675 N. Cedar Street with Brother George Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Licking Baptist Cemetery.Mrs. Turner died Saturday May 10, 2008 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Convalescent Center. She was born June 12, 1910 in Bowling Green Twp. to the late Oren L. and Florence Ada (Tavenner) Orr.Mrs. Turner was a 57 year member of Church of God, God?s Acres. She was a 1928 graduate of Brownsville High School, 1930 graduate of Newark Business College. She was a former employee at Sanitary Meat Markets and Denison University. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and caring for her flowers.She is survived by a daughter, Carol E. (Lovell) Brunton of Newark; son, James E. (Maryann) Turner of Ada; sister, Margary (Dick) Finkle of Hilliard; grandchildren, Deeann E. (Jim) Beatty of Avon, J. Eric (Nikki) Turner of Springfield, Jill E. (Dan) Fisher of Olmsted Falls, Rick L. Brunton of Phoenix, AZ., Todd (Denise) Brunton of Newark; eight great-grandchildren, Jack, Maggie & Katie Beatty, Rylie & Reese Turner,Madeline, Ashley & Janelle Brunton; many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Turner, February 10, 1967; sisters, Louise Shelly, Bernice Kime; brother, Robert L. Orr.Calling hours will be observed Wednesday May 14, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street.Memorial contributions may be made to Church of God, God?s Acres, 675 N.
